Trevi Fountain

The Trevi Fountain is Rome's Baroque showpiece at the junction of three roads in rione Trevi. The piazza stays open. Since 2 February 2026, non-residents pay a small official fee to enter the inner basin during the day. After evening closing, the fountain is visible without that ticket.

Official site fontanaditrevi.roma.it, civic museums, tourist info points, or at the fountain by card. Follow the City of Rome page, not resellers.

Coin throwing is a long-standing custom. Follow on-site staff rules for the basin. Coins are collected for charity.

Closest Metro?

Barberini (line A) is the usual stop, then a short walk downhill through the side streets.

Where three streets meet

The Fontana di Trevi marks the end of the Acqua Vergine aqueduct. The present fountain was designed in the 18th century by Nicola Salvi and finished under Giuseppe Pannini. Oceanus stands in the central niche.

In 2026 Rome introduced a low-cost ticket for the inner perimeter to manage crowds, while keeping the piazza open. Always check fontanaditrevi.roma.it; municipal rules can shift on maintenance Mondays.
